THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. &ilganin advanced very rapidly. In 19111 he was appointed a member of the
War Council in charge of the Moscox front. As a political commissar, he
P~'ticipated in the defense of 2loacow together with Marshal 7~. ~
19112 he was promoted to major-general and in this capacity moved to Poland
with the Mascow front and Marshal Zhukov. After the liberation of Poland,
he was made a Soviet plenipotentiary representative there. In 19116 he
received the rarilc of Marshal and was made deputy rld.nister of the Armed Forces.
Later on hP became 2`,inister of War and in 19!19 was made a full member of the
Politburo in charge of all military 3.ffairs. At present he is in
charge of Special Committee tIo 1 of the C~+.incil of Ministers. This super-
viaea all weapon developments with the exception of atomic energy.
2. He is probably the most educated and certainly the smartest member of the
Presidium, perhaps second to ~g~yy. He is eztrem ambitious and the

abrupt, and tigerish.
