There are no Soviet troops in Plcesti. Horsier, a Soviet vehicle repair
shop is located in a wooded area, approxirrsately 8 kilometers vest of Ploesti on
the road to Targaviste.
No S v1et units are reported in Sibiu.
It is rumored that in February 1951 four Soviet and two Chinese generals
were in f3te].in to attend a military celebration.
An importasrt Soviet heedg1ertscre is located. in Scrovietea between Perin
and the Ia3 its Siver. The nature of the heedparters could not be determined.

An unidentified Soviet artillery unit ocenpies barracks in Gc.lati formerly
quartering a Rumanian cavalry regim nt. It is equipped with ItS vehicles and
artillery pieces whose barrels are approximately 3 miters long. The weapons are
equipped with muzzle brake.
A Soviet infantry unit occupies two single-story buildings on the western
edge of Galati in the Tiglina quarter. The unit supplies guards for an aamoani-
tion depot near the Siretul River. The depot is surrounded by barbed wire.

in Sarduc-Mare along the Tagoslav frontier.
It is said that a Soviet antiaircraft unit occupies the barracks formerly
housing the Rumanian 19th Artillery Regiment on Cantscuzino Street on the road
to Targoviste in Ploesti.
A Soviet infantry unit of undetermined strength in Ploesti is quartered in
a barracks formerly occupied by the 7th Infantry Regiment. The barracks in lo-
cated on Tresor Street.
A Soviet infantry unit of undetermined strength occupies the barracks form-
erly containing the 32d Infantry Regiment in Floesti.
A Soviet tank and gun repair shop occupies an installation formerly contain-
ing a Rwaanian antiaircraft unit on Targoviste Street in Ploeeti.
Soviet infantry, artillery, and armored units, totaling 6,000-1,000 men,
are stationed in an old castle, approximatel' 1,500 meters oast of the bridge
which connects old and new Arad, and in an installation approximately 400 t,crt*xs
vest of the Arad railroad station. Officers are quartered in private homes.
Armament observed included armored vehicles of various types, artillery pieces,
.d rocket launchers,
the Rumanian 32d Infantry Regiment, on the western edge of Plossti on.Cantacuzino
Streert. Sentries at the entrance are armed with drum-eagazine submachine guns.

In mid-March 1951, approximately 30 families a rated from their homes in
Voevodul-Mibai, eppraximtely 2 kilometers northeast of Tergoviste. They vexe
moved to Targoviste to make room for a Soviet unit.

A military train consisting of 60-70 cars was seen at the east station in
Bucharest in November or December 1950. It contained Soviet military personnel,
artillery pieces, and tanks. A second such corivsy vas seen in January or feb-
m ary 1951.
A bstrodeos in Ploesti, formerly a Butr .an military school, on the street
formerly ]noun as Printesa Ileana Street, is occupied by a Soviet unit.
A Soviet military vehicle repair shop is located in Krangulni Bot, aqvrox-
imately 1i-5 kilometers vest of Ploeati on the road to Targoviste. The installa-
tions consist of a ember of buildings surrounded by barbed wire and guarded by
Soviet sentries. Soldiers stationed at the shop are quartered' in s brick building.
