Before the war, Branievo had numerous industrial plants, in3lnding tanneries and
a *boo factory. Most of the.. sere either destroyed or dismantled. Tannery No 1,
restored and put into operation, now Droftres substantial quantities of bard and soft
leathers from both domestic and imported rev materials. Productive facilities of th to
tannery are being expanded. Pits and vats for ooaking leather are boin,3 constructed
and set machinery, imported from Czechoslovakia, is being Installed.
B7 the end of 1949, when restoration of the plant in completed, 40(, workers
will be es4ployad. A new workroom is being built for storing raw bides and for
lixiviation of bark for tanniag.-
The 'Iala" Raterpriee in Oetka which now processes fish scraps will soon put
into operation a temnery for fish skins to be used in the manufacture of fang goods
and footwomr. A tannery for reptile skins is also under consideration. The factory

A clothing factory employing 180 women has peen opened in Elblag,. Gdansk
wojovodztwo. By January, other branches of the factory will be open, raising the
number of workers to 800. When the factory is completed, 3,000 workers will be
employed.

On 30 November, 75 sugar refineries completed the.1948 plan with 520,000 tons
of pure sugar.

retail price of ?Pionier" radio sets is 25,000 zlotys.
Then many be narchased on the installment plan, a down payment plus seven
-uonthly payments. Production foremen have priority in using the installment plan
system.
