Wolin is a mall town on the southern tip of the.island of the ease
new in the Dziwne River. Although war destruction amounted to 95 percent,
Wolin is an important fishing center. Its harbcr, 600 maters long,'is a
bass for several cutters, numerous motorboats, and sailing rowboats. There
are about 100 fishermen.
Diuoe Wolin lies co an important railroad line (Odra-Warsaw-(raga), a
refrigerating and ice-manufacturing plant has been built there and will
soon start operation. Bridges connecting the island with the mainiend havb
bean restored.

Wladyslawcve, Hal, and Ieba, are being restored. Wrecks are being
raised; dredging to increase the depth of entrances and port basins is
being carried on; and important shore installations, eerecially cold stor-

In the near futrre the port of Darlavo will be converted into a large
fishing base. The "Arks" State Enterprise Is in charge of organization.
This lecision was influenced by the fact that Da'J.:?vo Fns adequate equip-
ment and port installations such as a cannir factory, plants for curing
fish, a fish powder factory, an ice-manufacturing plant, and shep? equipped
with modern machint,- r^re r1'E S'1ehing boats or cutters. Moreover,
Darlavo has a fleet of c.ttere vc.:ch will be strengthened in the near future
by the addition of new boats

Dearing the current herring season, 1,320 tons of varions flab have
been unloaded in Szczecin, and 5,000,barrele of herring were salte& at
the salting plant in De3sar, the transshipping base in Szczecin.
