The army Committee has permitted serious deficiencies in the direction of the economic and cultural development of the Bray, uo that a number of important sections of kray economy have been lagging over a long period of time and tray industry as a whole did not fulfill the state plans fOr the first 3 years of the current Yive-Tear Plan. The decree of the Tea YEP(b) vas particularly con- cerned with the lag in the fish, tier and shipbuilding industries in ababaravsk Gray. The Gray Committee and party organizations of Lmchatka and lizhas-Amur oblasts have not been sufficiently active in solving important problems of the fish industry, such as increased mechanization in catching and processing fish, production of packing materials, expanding shore eaomW, increasing personnel at fish plants and combines. As a result, the industry did not fulfill. the 1948 plan for catching fish. Development of the timber Industry is proceeding slowly and has not achieved prewar level. Party organizations are particularly lax in providing permansat personnel for the timber industry. 8hlpbuilding enterprises have not been operating at a steady we, and several are slay in completing constriction. The Tea YKP(b) also criticized serious lag in kray agriculture where the chief problem of supplying workers in cities and industrial centers with pota".oes, vegetables and products from animal husbandry is not being solved satisfactorily. The prewar level of animal husbandry has not yet been attained. According to the decree, the lfrSe of the kray will r--eive 100 tractors, 40 combines and other Agricultural machinery-in 1949. The "Kherpuchl" Mine of the "Prinorzoloto" Trust (mine chief, Tubol'tsertt. secretary of Party organization, Plarein; chairman of mine csmmittee, Neshkor} is awarded the Red Banner. The Shor Timber Management (director, JDoroshenko; secretary of Party organization, 8osyachenko; chairman of workers' ocommittee, Shval'ba) ful- filled the December plan for logging 181.9 percent; for hauling, 136.2 per- cent; for transport, 122.9 percent; for gross production output, 139.7 per- cent; and is awarded the Red Banner, which has been transfered from rur- tfrai:yskoye Timber Management. The Amur River Steamship Line (chief, Bykov; secretary of Party organ!- ration, Potnpor; chairman of river-basin committea, rorneyer) fulfilled the December plan for grape production 158.9 percent; for ship rtilsir 110.3 per- cent; and for industrial enterprises 123 percent, which decreased coat of production by 2.2 perccat more than planned. The line has been awarded the Red Banner. PRODUClTIOd I CiUM IN CNUTKOT OXHU0 -- Tikhookeanakaya Zvezda, No 19, 25 Jan 49 Chukot Rational Okrag fulfilled the 1948 plan for development of deer raising 107 percent, with beet results obtained by kolkhozes in Narkovskiy Naycn, which have already exceeded the Firs.-Year Plan for increasing the deer stock almost 5,000 head above plan. The catch of sea mammals increased considerably in 19118 over 19h7. Sol.khozes in the village of lutanel'aen, Chukotekly Rayon, fulfilled the 1948 plan 120 percent. The whale catch for the Okrug increased 90 percent in 19118. Anadyr*ish Combine, by efficient distribution of manpowor and use of transport facilities, was first in ramobatka Oblast to complete the annual plan ahead of schedule and cat many thousand pud of fish above plan. There are still mangy serious defects in operation of Chukot enterprises. Local industry in the okrug is lagging and trade artels are not completing their plane. Both industries are not yet producing high-quality and varied ooraumer goods for the population of the okrue. The Plaverekaya Motorized Bea Na mal Fishing Station (director, Arietor) is not making full use of its transport equipment.
