The Ustav pro Mezinarodni Spolupraci v Zemedelstvi a Leeniotvi
(Organization for International Cooperation in Agriculture and Forestry)
in Letna 12 Prague is also the central agency for agricultural cooperation
among the Slavic countries and People's Democracies ESR 6atellitsi7.
Its task is to inform the public of new developments in agricult:re and
forestry and to see that they are put into practice.
For these purpose' the organization contacts Czechoslovak and foreign
institutes, follows rerfesrch results, and conducts investigations for its
an ass emamg the nations with which Czechoslovakia is on friendly terms.
It orgArni=es expeditions and arranges exchanges of scientists and experts
in agrioultare and forestry.
The organization issues a monthly bulletin in three langaageo, Czech,
Muslin, and English, and several other publications. Delegates fray
abroad, chiefly from the People's Democracies, also work in the organization.

The pasture cooperatives, a subsidiary of the Central Workers' Coopera-
tives, ocspleted their zwo-year plan in July 1948. Under the Five-Year Plan,
they are to open pasture cooperatives within the cooperatives for the pro-
daetiou and care of livestock. Sons of these cooperatives will be formed on
state fares, while others will remain within the Central Workers' Cooperatives.
Only persons who actual!,, work in the pastures will belong to these
cooperatives, although before 1948 fares=-@ from the interior who were

land of the cooperatives becomes a member. Members of the cooperatives re-
cclve specialist training and form a pool of skilled labor.

CONTRACTS FOR FARM PRODUCE -- Svobodne Slovo, No 44, 22 Feb 49
Indications are that the program for signing contracts for production
and delivery of agricultural Vroduoto will be fulfilled by the target date,
28 February. The municipalities are to report their results to the okres,
by 24 February; the okras to the kraj, by 26 February; and the kraj to the
Ministry of Agriculture, by the and of February.

For 5 years, rotted flat has been producing large profits in Caechoe?
lovakia. The financial yaild per hectare for rotted flax is about 40
percent greater than for unretted flax. Also, the producer of ratted flax
is entitled to linen cloth worth more than 30 percent of the value of the
flax he delivered, whereas the producer of unretted flax is entitled to
only 20 percent.

Pleas for the Cheb cadastral district call for the planting of 8,000
fruit trees of all kinds. Another 7,000 trees will be planted in the neigh-
borhood of Cheb Okras, so that this area will not have to depend upon imports
of fruit from other okres in the future.

erably mitigate the effects of the wiada, and will contribute to the greeter

In 1940, when there was little interest in scientific poultry breed-
tag, the tdadeta cooperative offered chickens, henhouses, and sane feed to
all applicants, The cooperative now has 27,000 poultrymen.
The farm at R.ipec near t4erimoeti also has a dairy and choose factory.
The Ntedeta cooperative has another large hatchery for 10,000 chiokems and
100 guinea fowl, goes*, and ducks on its farm at Sasovioe near Zelec and
is preparing a new modern hatchery for its Cerveny farm.

The spring plowing program will require the recreiting of 1,000 trac-
tor drivers and 2,000 brigade vorke-e to repair agricultural machinery in
the Czech Provinces, and an additional 500 tractor drivers and 500 skilled
brigade workers will be needed in Slovakia.
