A nseber of kolkhoses in tillages of Zatanakiy Rayon will be provided with
eleotrieity, and telwphannr and radio facilities during 1949, according to an
article in the Lynn newspaper, si Aear. The villages of Plk;rrut, Iadshsran,
Pirnawma, I,emmadsor, Feria And, and e. or of others, will be completely elec-
trified. The construction of lorashenik GZS and lerkin-And GM will be started.
Ta1ephone oonneotions will be sstarli~ with all villages of the rayon by
the end of 3949. A,amnber of such remte villages as Adaptln, Pirln, fflabadin,
and others will have l,eraaient oosaeotion with the rayon oentwr.
It is planned to provide radio facilities for 15 villaQas. I.cudayeabers
will also be set Up in squares and public places in many villages.

A 25-kilowatt electric power plant, built by the "Putllavets" Lolkhos, was
put into operation 22 January in the village of 2herl7k, Misueinokly Rayon. The
015 lat RM" Iolkhos is putting a 1S-kilowatt power plant into operation
23 January. Iollhoses of JJtnnsiaskiy Rayon have already constructed 16 electric
power pleats with a capacity of 500 kilowatts providing power for x,000 kolkhoz
houses. Power plants are now under construction in 16 kolkkeses.
"Owl/elektro" (Rural Electrification) is bu+ldiag a total of 25 bydroelso-
trio power plants and 16 steam-electric per plants In Ninusiaskiy Rayon, with
the resalt that 13 kolkhoses and 9 lfl'ss will be provided with electric power.
Both 3anp inskiy and a.uishsnskiy Rayons will have extensive electrification in
1949.

Rural electrification is constantly expanding in Kirgiz R. At present,.
46 hydroelectric power plants, with a total capacity of 2,460 kilowatts,
furnish electricity to 105 kolkhozes and two sovkhozes. The plot provides for
a capacity of 6,000 kilowatts within 2 years for the benefit of an additioral
410 kolkhozee.

Dzhangi-DZhol Kirgiz SSR -- The construction of an electric power plant has
been started which will furnish current for the rayon center and the nearby
kolkbozes in this region. A canal is being constructed by kolkhoz workers.

PaLuna -- An electric power plant and radio rebroadcasting station were ro-
ceantly put Into operation an the "Pat' Severs" Fishing Kolkhoz in the settlement
of Chgbuls, Penzhinskiy Bay=, Joryak National Okrug. All kolkhoz houses now
have radio and electric ligLt.

The Iondopoga fydrosiectrio Power Station (director, Ionovalor) fulfilled
the 1948 plan 200 percent and showed. a profit of ate million rubles above the
plan. Orerbauling of the pain machinery and oonstruotion to inoroase the capacity
of the station are scheduled for 1949.

of the Fifth Congress of the IP(b) N rgiziys. The 1948 production plan was ful-
filled 104 percent. Fifty-four running asters of the tunnel have bean out sad
a seal? US has been completed. Workers exceeded the January quota considerably.
Assembly of electric equipment in the small, 120-kilowatt US will begin In
February. When this 038 starts operating, the tunnel work will be asebanized.
It is planned to complete the second section of the large, 680-kilowatt D;B
by 1 July.

MW Ministry Power Stations has announced the fnlfillmat of
the 1948 plan. Pro&wticn of electric power was 16.6 percent pzeater in 1948
than in 1917. In 1948, the electric parer stations realised savings of over
100,000 toms of coal and 100 millin kilowatt-hours of power. Above plan savings
from the lowering of production costs amounted to 200 million rubles In 11 months.
