The Ministry of Chemical Industry has announced the fulfill..
went of the 1948 plan with production 132 percent that of 1947.
The industry showed an above-plan profit of 430 million rubles
during the first 11 months of 1948.

The Ministry of the Ctewical industry is preFaa izg to ship
mineral fertilizer to the south_ern regions of the USSR for the
spring planting season. At present,, 21.4 percent more mineral
fertilizer is ready for sk::tpszent than in the same period of
1?48. It w:~11 be sent to Central Asia fcr use in the cotton
fields, to the Transcaucasus for the r:itrus groves, and to the
Ukraine for the sugar beet fields.
WOOD PULP COMBINE PLEDGES INCREASE -- Srasnaya Zrecda, No 33,

The Syava Wood Pulp Comb'_re, Gor;Kiy Oblast.as made the
following pledges:
To fulfill the 1949 plan ":v 20 November.
To produce 235 tons of acetic acid and 3.20 tors of wood
alcohol and solvents above the plan.
To reduce the costs of production 3.5 per:eat above the
plan and as a result, save 504,000 rubles.

A new vacuum conveyor press has been installed in the
Stalinabad Ceramics Flaa_t which 'will increase the processing of
paste twofold and considerably rase labor productivity. Tests
with this press have given excellent results.

The Yerevan Chemical Plant of the Ministry of Local Industry
Armenian g5R is speeding up installation of machinery for the pro-
duction of chromic anhydride and chromic oxide, which will be
used for polishing motel products and for chrome plating.
At the same time, the plant Is installing equipment in the
shop producing industrial rubber articles, to manufacture straps,
boots, slippers, galoshes, e?-d ther cor..suri rs' goods. Thv new
workshops will be put into operation du^ing the second quarter.
