A7,though the volume of production of the local food industry of Primorski.-
Bray hao increased five times over 1940, and such combines as Voroshi.lov, Suchtan,
and Vladivostok, have been increasing output daily, the work of the local food
industry as a whole, however, is still not satisfactory. The Pozharskiy, Kirovv-
ekiy, Terney, Tetyukhe, Anuchino, Crodekovo, Spasek, and Shmakovski:r combines
are operating poorly. Local raw materials are not being used sufficiently in
local food production.
Combines in Rhasnoarmeyekiy, Chuguyevekiy, Molotovekiy, Chkalovskiy, and
Sokolovskly rayons were abolished in 1948. The executive committees of these
rayons refused responsibility for these enterprises which could have operated
profitably with some assistance from rayon organizations. There is a tendency
to abolish enterprises which have not been operating efficiently merely because
they are lagging in making use of local raw material resources.
Many enterprises of the local food industry do not have subsidiary agricul-
tural holdings or else have small farms that do not meet the needs of the enter-
prise. Some enterprises have been prevented from growing their own agricultural
produce because the rayon, executive committees in Birovskiy, Yakovlevskiy, 01'-
ginekiy, and Pozharekiy r%yoas have not released permanent land to them.
Additional tochnical equipment for th, food combines is of extreme impor-
tance since nothing has been done along this line recently. Many combines,
which do not have their own installations, are forced to 'ise those leased from
other enterprises. Such -conditions must not be allowed to continue. Adoption
of new types of production in another important problem of food combines.
Branches of the food industry, such as the canning, oil processing, glucose,
beer, vitamin, soap, and others, have not been sufficiently developed in Pr?mor-
akiy Bray. Development of the Trust and vegetable canning industry is of particu-
lar Importance and has not bee- handled satisfactorily because of the lack of can-
r,inS '' tallations. The Anuc:,ino .:coden Packing Materials Combine must be put
into operation more quickly In order to help meet the needs of the vegetable In-
dustr,y.
