THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION NEV MINING 1TBODS INCREASE OUTPUT INNOVATIONS IN BOSNIAN MnI3S -- Barba, No 76, 3o mar 49 Production in Bosnia and Berosgcvina mines will be greatly increased during 1949 through increased mechanization and new working mothods. Cutting according to the broad-face system, which has been employed heretofore only in the Zenica mine, will be adopted this year to several other mines, inoludi}Ig the NrakanJ and Breza brown coal mines and the Kroka lignite mine. Preparations are being made In one part of the Makanj mine to introduce the new "B" system of cutting, which will greatly inore,e labor efficiency. The adoption of new cutting methods han already increased production at the Nliceka mine by 10 - 20 percent. i Mhaking conveyers are bring installed at Sakam~ and drilling will be mechanized. The acne at M1l,evina in Pooa Srez will be electr?fled, and a dry separation pleat will be built there to imp:eve the quality of the coal.. In the Tcsnios mine, large-scale prospecting has revealed rich dronits of coal around Livno. They will be exploited systematically this year. NEW IIETROD 8Pi~l COAL WORKING -- Barba, No 76, 30 Mar 49 Mirko Perisic, an engineer at the Alekeinae coal mines, hoe diseov'ned an improved method of cutting that will permit the working norms to be raised by 17 percent. The explosive is set.-'off in such a way that the four holes in the middle explode first, making a cavity in the face, and then the other holes explode. Relieved of pressure from the middle of the face, this part disintegrates much more readily. This method was known previously in Yugoslavia, but was not used at the Alekeinsc mines until 14 January 1949. The new method cuts twice the area and requires only about half as much explosive as the former method. It Is also being applied to work in stone ruerries and will be adopted in all Serbian coal mines. 5T3 HIMM BEAT QUARTER PLAN -- Borba, No 77, 31 Mar 49 )%ny Slovenian mines have completed their production plane for the firet.quarter of 1949 ahead of schedule. The Trbovlje coal mine, which exceeded its February plan by 4 percent, completed its 3-month plan 3 days ahead of, schedule. The 8enaso, Liboje, Pecovnik, and ifanizerica mines also fulfilled their plans ahead of schedule. The Volenje and Z,aburouice coal mines and the mine at Lasko are expected to most their plans on time. The best results were achieved by the mine at Sent Janz, which completed its plan 10 days ahead of schedule, as a result of the prompt completion of preliminary work art a new coalfield. However, acme mines have not paid sufficient attention to the preparation of now deposits while the old ones were being exhausted. The Ehoevje mine, for example, failed to most its January plan by about 20 percent and so was unable to meet its 3-month plan. Its old seam had been exhausted in December. The Zaeorje coal mine will fulfill its 3-mouth plan on time. Well- organized youth brigades at the Urastnik and Lasko mines are achieving excellent results.
