The railroad workers fulfilled their 1947 .plan for freight transporta-
tion in not ton kilometers by 118 percent, which represents 125.5 percent
of the 1938 figu e. In 1948 the railroad yards in Split and Osijek and the
railroad workshop in Zagreb fulfilled their plans a month or more ahead of
schedule, and the plan for passenger transport was fulfilled 126 percent, or
129 percent as compared with 1947 aid 276 percent as compared with 1938.
Lest year 154,56C,000 passenger. were carried, although there were fewer
passenger cars than in 1938. Last year 292 kilometers of new line were put
into operation, and 570 kilometers of line were built.
There are now 94 railroad schools in Yugoslavia with a combined enroll-
meat of over 7,000 ?t t.? In 1939 there were only seven schools with
about 900 .tridents:

The 1949 plan for the Peoples front of Weave calls for the construo-
tiou of a 13-kilometer standard-gauge rail line from Zmin.ak to Bogatic in
Serbia. The line is to be started at the beginning of April and should be
in service by the eni of June. About 9.200 !Font members will work as
volunteers in building the line.

After the line is finished, it will be extended from Bogatic to Mole
Kitrovica.
