In 1938, the Gasworks in Budapest produced 101,700,000 cubic meters of gas.
In 1943 yrodnotton dropped +.o 41,700,000 cubic meters because of war damage, but
this year it will be back up to 138,500,000 cubic meters. This surpasses the pre-
war production by 36 percent. The number of gas meters in use has increased from
the prewar figure of 125,000 to the present-day figure of 146,000. The number of
units of gre-consuming apparatus is now 170,000 which is 45,000 more than before
the var.
The amount allocated for the gas work undor the three-year plan was 32,400,000
forints and an additional 222,000,000 forinte will be invested in tAe gas works.
During the five-year plan production capacity will be doubled, raising the present
daily output of 330,000 to 1,100,000 cubic meters. The domestic oorqumption of gas
will be increased by 33 percent to 190,000 cubic meters. The yearly output of coke
will be raised to 215,000 toa5, an increase of 36 percent. By supplying ao retry
towns with bottle gas from Mkt' ', the number of gas consumers will be increased
by 3G,000.
