A city-wide conference of Ehabarovek inteL1igenteia was held recently

who tries to separate the creative power and 6Avelopaent of Jewish writers
from the favorable influen)e of Russian olausical and Soviet literature.
He is a follower and admirer of the Jewish writer Der-lister, a bcurreois,
nationalistic cosmopolitan. Nationalistic tendencies have also been noted
in critical reviews, published in the newspapers 3irobidzhanssgaya zvezda and
Bisobidshaner Stern, by Killer, Slutekiy, PoUrushin, sLd Shimenkc. R. Idcv,
journalist with the newspaper Tik)'ookeona ya zvezda, we criticized for his
favorable review of the operetta P~ _sa d Qi (Tb., Dollar Princess)
and his nafa.aorable review of the past' Zakon chesti (Law of Honor).
Far Eastern artists Shkrab and Tsimerinov were criticized tar aestheticism
in their art work. Shebertsov, director of the Bray Administration of :sbtion
Picture Distribution, and Maley, director of "Glavkinoprokat" (Main Administration
of Notion Picture Releases), were criticized for permitting showings of foreign
f iln,. Candidate in Philological Bcienaes Doebrovekiy, head of the chair of
literature at the Khabarovsk Pedagogical Institute, and Candidate in Philosophical
SoleLses Fisher, head of the chat- of Marxism-Leninism at the Institute, have
been guilty of ideological errors in their teaching. Professors and students of
the Khabarovsk Medical Institute have been guilt; of adhering to foreign ideas
and of ideological deviations.
Among those who adnitted their errors at the conference were Syrtsov,
director of the pedagogical institute; Rogal', responsible secretary of the
Khabarovsk division of the Union of Sa iet Writers; I1'inekiy, responsible
editor of Tikhookeanaksva Zvezda, and Dombrovek'- ?'nd Fisher. Critic Aluf's
speech did not satisfy the conference and ladicated that he did not realize the
seriousness of the errors with which he is charged.
