PAS (pars-amino salicylic acid), the cost powerful means for combating
e'ortly will be produced in Poland. Manufactured until recently only in
the US and in Switzerland, PAS was imported in very small quantities be-
cause of the high price.
The method of produ.ing PAS was worked out in the Pharmaceutical Mhter-
prissp' Factory No 10 in Krakow under the direction of Professor-Doctor
Supn#nski. Mtcperimente have been conducted since 1 January.
The Boruta chemical factory will manufacture PAS for industrial purposes
ant 7aetory No 10 will manufacture it for aedtoal purposes. This year's pro-
duction of PAS wilt supply only part of the nation's di'aud, but next year's
production probably will be sufficient to meet requirements in full.

In order to make the first-aid program uniform and more effioie*t, the
Minister of Jealth charged the Polish Rrd t.'ross with the orgaaisstion of
firabs id stations throughout the country.
This jgsr 77 stations with a total of 254 ambulances will be oresnized.
It Is estimated that by 1955 there will be 278 stations and 2,000 aaba]anoes.

Eulawy. The aim of this group, which is divided 11to 24 teens, is to
give on-the-upot medical treatment to children and youth of the rural

During the first quarter 1949, the State Veterinary Institute in Gorzov
