Peat artels of the Minsk Oblast Peat and Ceramics Industrial Union had
fulfilled 35.3 percent of the season plan for peat cutting by 20 May. The
best results were achieved by "Bol'ehevik" Artel, which fulfilled the April
plan 184 percent and the May plan by 20 May, and by the Artel imeni Voroehilov,
which fulfilled the A,xril plan l-5 percent ene the May plan uy 20 May. One
brigade of the Aetel imeni Voo'moy s",esd Sovet.r and a brigada of "Bol'ehevik"
Artel- have slready completed the season plan for peat mining cad have promised
to out two additional quotas by the and of the season.

The Orekhovo-Zuyevo Peat Trust completed the 2-month program for peat
mining on 19 May, and the 5-month gross-production plan cn 21 May. The trust
saved over 2 million rubles above plan and released 1,100,000 rubles of working
capital. Tha gathering of out peat was started 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
The first few thousand tons of high-quality fuel have been stacked.

Shatura peat workers eWoyeda successful year in 1948, fulfilling their
peat extraction plan for ahead of eche.iule. Until last year, peat workers
turned by hand the very heavy and bulky pipes used in peat extraction. After
attempts over many years, machines were created and used last year to handle
this lalber-ocgsuning work. The pouring of watery plat will be mechanized
95 percent in the Petrovsko-lobelevsk peat enterprise and 62 percent in all
Shatura Peat Trust enter'rises this year. Machines for the collection of
watery peat will also be widely used.
