Leningrad industry fulfilled 108.7 percent of the gross-production plan for April. During the first 4 months of 1949, 47,300 square meters of living space were put into use, amounting to 18 percent of the year plan. During April, 36 percent of the second-qua--ter retail trade turnover plan for State and cooperative organizations was completed. The Kirov General Store completed 43 percent of this plan in April, the Frurte General Store 42 percent, and the Admik:stration of Industrial Trade 43 percent. The Leningrad Main Administration of Restaurants, however, is lagging In the fulfillment of this plan. Agricultural products in the city's markets have increased. In April 1949, inbi'bitante of the city bought 2') percent more potatoes, 5' percent more vegetables, 200 percent more butter, 130 percent more meat, and 100 percent more eggs than in April 1948. Mani_cipal enterprises and organizations operated as follows: etreAtcars fulfilled 100 percent of the April plan for average daily runs, trolley busses 103 percent, busses 112 percent, and taxis 101 percent. Average daily rune of streetcars increased 1.3 percent, trolley busses 24 percent, bosses 26 percent, and taxis 72 percent in comparison with April 1948. Streetcars :ompleted 93 percent of the month plan for passengers carried, trolley busses 127 percent, and taxis 72 percont. In comparison with April 1948, this was 85 percent. of the passengers carried oy streetcars, trolley busies 113 percent, and busses 128 percent. Water worlds completed 100.5 percent of April plan for supplying water to consumers, increasing the output of water by 4 percent in comparison with April 1948, The supply of gas to all subscribers in April 1949 increased 96 percent in comparison with the corresponding period of last year.
