The Tbilisi State University imeni Stalin announces the admission of
aspirants for the 1949 - 1950 school year in the following special fields:
philosophy, login, psychology, Russian language, English language and
literature, German language and literature, French language and literature,
Geergian language, Georgian literature, history of the peoples of the USSR,
history of VEP(b), history of the countries of the East, history of Georgia,
civil law, history and th 'ory of state law, political eooncqj. physical
gr.graphy of foreign countries, botany, animal physiclogy, Pa:rinism, integral
and differential equations, thsoreticaal physics, and Iranian philology.
Persons under 40 with higher education are admitted as aspirants.
Applicants must pass entrance examinations in the principles of l4arxisa-
Leninism, a special branch of s6ienoe, Russian laaguage, and one foreign
language. The knowledge of Georgian is oompuleory.
Applinationo may be filed uutil 1 September. Entrance examinations will

The Gomel' Technical Schiol of Railroad Traaapirt to ore of the oldest
secondary technical training institutions in Belorussia. It was founded in
1919 on the basis of a technical railroad school established in 1879.
Since World War II, the school has graduated 413 technicians. Nearly
130 young specialists will graduate in 1949.

The Somsomol'sk-on-Aeaur Construction Technical School announces admission
of students to all courses for the 1949 - 1950 school year in the fields of
industrial and civilian construction. The training period lasts 4 years.
Admission requirements are similar to those of all USSR technical schools.
Applications will be accepted from 1 June to 20 August and entrance examinations
will begin on 10 August. The school year begins on l September. Those accepted
will be released from work in enterprises and will be deferred from the army

There are 1,000 new schools in Kazakhstan and 23 higher educational insti-
tutions, attended by 16,000 students. The Republic has its own Academy of
Sciences and also an affiliate of All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences
imeoi V. I. Lenin. There are 86 doctors of sciences and professors and 257
candidates in sciences. The Republic has 36 theaters. 20 concert organizations,
and. nearly 20 art training Institutions.

grown from two to six, and newspaper circulation has increased from 2,000 to
15,000. The supply of books in libraries has increased five old, the number
of motion picture installations elevenfol.. and the number of public radio
reception systems hoe increased over sixteenfold. The nrmber of school
