NEW EQUIPME]IT SPESDS MANUFACTURk
ARMENIAN HANTS INCREASE GENERATOR PROWCTION -- Kommttnist, No 130, 4 Jun 49
This year, the agric, aitural eouipment plant of the Ministry of Local
Industry Armenian SSR began production of generators, necessitating expansion
of the basic and autiliary shops. An assembly line for rotors, including a
testing stand and a painting and packing section, has been organized on one
of the floors of the in plant building. The stator assembly section has
specially designed and ecuipped installaticas from the former forge shop.
Single-rail overhead conveyors have been installed In the assembly sections
as far an the packing section. The plant is producing girders for bridge
cranes which will be used in he machine, forge, and casting shops.
The plant is now producing generators with 15-kilovolt-ampere capacity.
Teets of a larger generator are now being made and the plant 'ill convert to
serial production of a P5-kilovolt-ampere generator.
The Yerevan Electric-Machine-Building Plant has accelerated its peudaction
rate and increased Its output of generators and transformers. The plant
exceeded the 5-month plan for gross and finished-goods production, prodreea
many transformers and generatore above the plan, increased labor productivity,
and decreased costs.
The Collegium of the Ministry of the Electrical Ind;.atry USSR and the WTeSaa
recently awarded the plant the second prize of 100,000 rubles for its success
in the All-Union competition aroma machine-building enterprises in the first
Quarter 1949.

ELECTRIC IPDd7STRY REPORTS PR0GR SS -- Le:.;^gradekaya Pravda, No 130, 4 Jun 49
A 3-day branch conference in the Leningrad "Elektrosila" 21ant imeni S. M.
Kirov was attended by representatives of the plants of the Ministry of the
Electrical Industry USSR. Shvartsman, chief of the technological bureau of
the "Elektroeils" Plant, presented a report on mechanization of the process of
insulating stator windings on high-voltage electric machines,
Lysikov, senior designer of the depertmAnt of the chief technologist at
the "Elektroaila" Plant, reported the advantages of a new machine tool designed
for insulation winding of casings of medium capacity machines. Two such machine
tools have already been built and are being tested at the plant. Bromberg,
representative of the Moscow Plant imeni V. I. Lenin, told of experiments in
using compressed air in the production of windings. Ths conference planned a
number of concrete measures for further development and mechanization of winding
insulation work.
M4BCOW PLANS CREATES NEW DEVICE -- Leningradskaya Pravda, No 126, 31 May 49
Workers of the Moscow Plant imeni Vladimir Il'ich have made a valuable
contribution to the development of the domestic electrical industry by utilizing
compressed air for the,product1cn of windings which previously had been produced
in plants by manual methods.
Several different machine tools with pneumatic drive have been designed,
coatructed, and put into operation here. The new equipment has greatly
increased the labor productivity and lightened the work of the makers.
Plants of tho Ministry of. Electrical Industry are displaying great
interest in equipment produced by this plant. Blueprints of the new machine tools
have been delivered to the "Dinamo" Plant imeni Kirov, "Elektroaila" Plant
imeni Kirov, Xharkov Electrical Equi-ment Plant imeni Stalin, and others.
The Leningrad Institute of Railroad Transport Engineers has developed a
new universal instrument for electrical measuring which can measure the vo.tme,
amperage, and vattag., of alternating current. Unlike the measuring instrument
recently put out and widely advertised by the American General Electric firm,
the instrument does not require any adjustment upon being switched from one
measure to another.
L.TPIAJ PLANT COtPLETti.E3 5-YEAR PLAN -- Sovetskaya Latviya, No 130, 4 Sun 49
The machinery plant of `Clavlaa.ummash" (061n Admiliatration of Mschine
Building for the Tirber and Paper Industry) is the Le.tvia; SSR completed he
5-year gross-production plan on 1 April. The plant exceeded the first-quarter
plan by almost 50 percent. The plant produces mobile electric power plants
and electrf^ motors for the timber industry.
