Chleng-te, 6 June 1949 -- The Ping-yuan Mining Bureau in Jehol ;'ovine reports
a noticeable Increase in gold output from its two mines. Monthly ovLl:rt, in the past,
has been 20 m 27 ounces. Planned output for April wrs 54 ounces. Actual production
reached 72 ounces, surpas3ing the planned quota by one-third. The quota for May was
60 ounces, but actual production was 120 ounces. The miners' goal for June is
180 ounces.
Tung trees are now found in 13 provinces, the chief producers being Szechwan,
Hunan, Kwangsi, Hupeh, and Chekiang, Szechwan's output is the finest in quality
and also accounted for one-third of the nation's total In the prewar period.
Annual average production by provinces for the two periods 1933 through 1937
and 1938 through 1946, and estimated production for 1947 through 1952 is listed below

Shang-hal, 16 June 1949 -- A new coal deposit with an estimated reserve of
60 million tons was discovered in the vicinity of the Eual-nan Cna1 Field 1"
central .Arline Province. This is even larger than the deposits at rai-limn
(Ka Ilan). This deposit w'-11 be railed "K' ai 'I.van of East Chine." Mining
operations are to be started acon.
