The Allsmi Mczcge.zdaeagi Gepizem (State Agriculture Machine Works)
supplied the MPSc with 120 new tractors during April, Tilling of the soil
will be modernized with the 183 bucklers, 220 heavy harrows 340 light
harrows, and 160 sowing machines which rave also been c.iitzibuf.ed to the
MPSs. This mechanization required an inv9etment of 17 million forinte.
Five new MISS were esta%.liehed during May. 11ransportatlon of farm
products will be facilitated by 33 trucks and other equipment supplied
to the machine tractor stations.

Last year, during a l?-month period, the Hofherr factory produced 978
tractors, In the first 20 weeks of 1949, the output was 825 tractors. This
is a weekly production of 41 tractors as compared with 18 for last year.

The lock and bolt industry has expanded significantly, Production has been
increased to such as extent that 60 percent-of the output now is available
for export. By the end of the Five-Year Plan, the industry will fulfill
domestic requirements of 34 million forinte and make 34 million forinte'
worth of production available for export. According to the most recent.trade
agreement with the USSR, ;00,000 auto locks will be exported to that ooa-ntry.

LUMINUM.OUTPUT SHOWS INCREASE KieUJeeg, 28 May
In 1938 the annual aluminum production was 1,500 tone. In the first,
year of the three-year plan, the output was increased t0,7,500 tons. This
resulted in a mon''hly average of 625 . tons. The estimated production for the
last year of the three-year plan is 12,400 tone By 19514, aluminum production
will be 26,000 tone per. year.
A new alum; am foundry and rolling mill will be built, and new bauxite
mines will be opened. next year a new mine will be put into operation at,
S ocs, in Zala county, at acoat of 1,500,000forints. Output is expected to
be approximately a half million tons of ore.
