THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
A bridge excavator operated by hydraulic traction was recently installed
at the Baydakovekiy open-pit coal mine (Kirovograd Oblast). Its productivity
nxeeeds 6,000 cubic meters of earth a day.
The Al!bertovekoye Mine Administration in the Donbass fulfilled the year
plan for mining coal and produced 14,000 tons of coal above plan by Miner's Day
on 29 August. The miners have pledged to mine many thousands of tone of coal
above the plan by the end of the year.

The Angren Coal Basin is of primary economic importance to Uzbekistan and
the whole of Central Asia. The Angren Basis contributed 30 percent of the coal
mined by "Sredazugoll" Combine in 1948. This ragiun may be considered as a
future coal basin of the Soviet Union. Its location and gaol^gical formations
will permit wide application of open-pit mining methods. .. strip pit and Mine
N-I 9 were put into operation in 1948.' In the first half of 1948, "Uzbekugol'"
Trust mined 350 percent mire coal than in the corresponding period of 1947.
Coal production has progressively increased during the second lialf of this year.
