HWANGHAE-DO PLANTS SPRING WHEAT -- Hwanghae Inminpo, 10 Apr 49
With the arrirnl, of the spring sowing season, farmers throug>;o1it North
Korea are busy with sawing of spring wheat. In Hwangbae-do, Sohong County
led in spring-wheat sowing by completing it on 4 March, follo-red by other
counties. By 5 April, all the counties in thb province bad attained an
average of 135 percent of the spring-sowing quota.
The quota attainment by each county 'u Hwanghae-do in the sowing of
doubto-orop upr ne_ wheat is as fa;lmre (in perceet): Flaejr 225, ,Rriwon 255,
Songhwe 242, :.hangyon 221, Songyim.176, Sohong 166, Kokean 166, Chaeryong 151,
Onyul 149, Pyoksong 137. Pyon zea 124, Ewangju 119, Pargean i17, Sinoh'cn 108,
Haaoh'on 105, Yonpaek 92, Suan 88, Singye 75.
Some counties did not attain the quota by 5 April beoansa of unfavorable
weather and other conditions.
PNOPLS'S COMMI2T&B HELPS SOWING -- Hwanghae Inminpo, 19 Apr 49
The People's Committee in Chapgp'ung County, Hamgyong Namdo, met on 9 April
and decided to exert all its effort to help farmers in the county to complete
the spring sowing operation by way of security for the farmers, the necessary
farm equipment and fertilizer. Furthermore, the committee prescribed tho
planting period for each type of crop in the county as follows: rice (young
plants), 15 - 25 Apr; cotton, 25 Apr - 5 May; millet, 10 - 30 Apr; tares,
10 - 30 Apr; kaoliang, 10 - 30 Apr, Indian corn, 20 Apr.- 20 May; soy beano,
1 - 30 May; red beano, 15 - 30 Apr; rice transplantation, 20 Apr - 10 May.
