.hs "AL-rikbia" Plant in Noginsk has made ood progress in
shortening the production cycle. In shop No 26, acridine, as important
preparation used by livestock farms, t.s manufactured. The bottleneck in
the beginning stage of production was the drying of disodium salt, which
took not less than 5 days. By raising the rate of heating by 5 - 7 degrees,
the drying process was shortened to 14 hours. In the formation snd processing
of nitrogen mass, the intermediate process of settling has been eliminated,
with a saving of 48 hours. In drying the semifinished product, the
temperature was raised 5 degrees, and two-staged pressing of the paste in
a centrifuge was introduced. In this operation the production cycle was
seduced from 48 hours to 8 hours.
In distilling the product, the steam pressure was r ised from
one atmosphere to three a.tmosphei?ed, ana for war, other product (dichlorethane)
the vacuum disti.7.lat..or was divided into two processes. In both cases 33
of 46 hours were saved. In the final operation, drying the finished product,
eliminating leas and the product's tendency to cake presented a problem.
Drying was carried out step-by-step in 8 stages and lasted 144 hours and
one fifth of the final product was usually lost. An innovation permitted
the drying to be done in one stage in_aperiod of 14 - 18 hours. Thus,
the production cycle was out a total of 17 days and the productivenes9 of
the equipment was raised 40 percent.
In shop No 5, potassium salt was formerly cleaned with sodium
sulfide and activated charcoal. 'then the sali., ueiure the beginning o
crystallization, was put through a special filter,' After laboratory
research, the process was shortened by 8 hours, inasmuch as it was possible
to clean the salt with sodium sulfide alone.

PLANTS TOP HALF-YEAR PLAN -- Moskovskiy Bol'shevik, No 145, 22 Jun 49
The "Akrikhin" (acridine) Plant i.n Noginsk has fulfilled the half-
year plan ahead of schedule, with gross production showing an increase
of 56 percent over the corresponding period of 1948.
The lacquer and paint plant of Ministry of Chemical industry In
Khot' !covo completed the half-year plan 20 June arid will produce another
40,000 rubles' worth of goods before the end of the month.
TARTU PLANT BEATS FIVE-YEAR PLAN - Sovetskaya Estoniya, no 144, 21 Jun 49
As of 1 June 1949, the "~erc:csChemical Plant (director, Petrovykh)
in Tartu has completed the Five-Year Plan 182 percent. The volume of
production of the plant has risen 4.00 pew cent over the 1945 figure.
The plant put anew casein shop into operation in 1,948.
