Despite many complications, this year's supply of fruits and vegetables
in Belgrade has been adequate. Vegetables in particular bare been available
in. sufficient quantity in all Belgrade mn.kets. An avalage of 25 - 35 car-
loads of vegetables arrive every day, or 500 - 750 grams daily per resident,
although heavy rains often mks shipments impossible.
Two thirds of the total supply of vegetables fn Belgrade goes to the
socialistic sector, 30 - 35 percent of which consists of municipal enter-
prises, 25 - 30 percent of district enterprises, and 30 - 35 percent of
cooperatives. Pancevachi Rit supplies 15 - 25 percent of the vegetables
supplied to the socialistic sector.
The vegetable supply in general is greatly improved since last vbar.
Prices are definitely lower. During the first 10 days of June i9+8 and
19k9 respectively, potatoes coat 23 and 14 dinars per kilogram, unions 12
and 4 dinars, and cabbage 20 and 15 dinars.

However, the fruit supply this year suffered considerably from blight.
Plume were most affected. Nevertheless, 7 - 15 carloads of fruit ar:~)ved in
Belgrade daily. Besides Smederevo and Belgrade erez, the capital's normal
source of supply, 23 erez have Lsen added to the net supplying Belgrade with
fruit. Deliveries from these erez should begin soon.
In. spite of the blight, prices are fairly low. Cherries post 18 dinare
per kilogram. pears 16 dinars.

A new machine for the production of paper for cement bags was put into
operation in April. This is the first machine for the paper industry to have
been built inYugoslavia since the liberation. This machine will Increase
the productive aapacity of the Yugoslav paper industry by 80 percent.
Whemmas in the past paper for cement bags had to be imported, Yugoeflawi4:',
industry *111 now be cble to fill the requirements of the cement induotry.

Bikola Petrovio, Federal Minister of Electric Econo.oy, announced on 29
June that tha Ministry now uentrols, directly or indirectly, 67 enterprises
as compared with 16 in 1948? Last year it built 30 major installations of
capital construction, directly or indirectly, and 230 more h Iroelectric and
thermoelectric power plants and lma-distance power lines are now under
construction.
After the ".ecnoslova.k government suspended deliveriso of equipment for
several large therruoeJ.cctric and hydroel9tric power plants ordered under the
terms of the 7146 trade agreement, the Ministry succeeded in placing orders
for other equipment, sully as good, in other countries.

Within 2 days after the departure of the Czr.hoslovak technicians who
were building and assembling equipment in the large thermoelectric power
plant that was to supply S oplje with power, Yugoslav crcrkere and engineers
were already at work taking their pieces. u~fore the,, left, the Czeche destroyed
the plans for the assembly and installation of the boilers and other equipment.
They had promised to complete the wor?z in September or October, but the Yugoslav
workers, who forrasrly vere o$1y assistants to the Czech experts, have pledged
that the turbines will be ready and the plant in operation by 2 Aug~v3t. The
boilers will begin trial operation in the cecand half of July.
As a result of the Cominform resolution, Czechoslovakia has suspended
shipment of essential equipment such as cables, parts of boilers, and other
equipment. Motors have arrived with parts missing.
The "Mcrshal Tito" factory has undertaken the msnuf,c-oire of such niselrhg
parts as kindling equipment ftr oil-heated boilers. Cables will be v_Lde u;~ he
