"FRASNOYE SORM070" PLANT GETS SECOND (MER OF LEAN -- Gudok, No 86,

By order of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet USER, "Sracnoye
Sormovo" Plant imeni A. A. Zhdanov of the Ministry of Transport-Machine
Building USSR has been awarded a second Order of Lenin in honor of the
700th anniversary of its founding.
i(h. E. Rubinchik, director of the plant, has bean awarded the Order
of Lenin.
The" &aenoye Sormovo" Plant builds river and sea transport ships,
locomotiv,a, railroad car wheels, and aoto afoi electric power plants.
The plant has been given the task of making Diesel ships for the C^"T1
imeni Moskva and steel tubing for the Mosoow subway. Each year 5 - 6
million rubles are put into mechanization of the plant..
The Yaroslavl' Plant has begun aerial production of a compressor for
subway car brake equipment which is more powerful and more compact than
existing models. The compressors will be installed in the new subway rare
now being built in ititishchi.
The plant has also designed a brake cylfl der stamped out of shoat
steel which is cheaper, more durable, and twice -is light as cast iron.
The plant has manufactured test models of self-sealing sleeve joints
which eliminate completely the escape of air from brake lines; 100,000 of
these joints are now being test6d on trains of Ural and Siberia railroads.
Plant workers have pledged to produce out of nevPA materials breke
equipment fcr 200 locomotives and 12,000 ca-s above plan in 1949.
