THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION BAUXITE PROCESSING TO INCREASE -- Magyar Nemzet, No 136, 8 Jul 49 Hungary has at its disposal 300 - 400 million tone of bauxite, it3 most 'm^^r+-n+, metal. Bauxite proceasing will increase from 9,000 tons per year to 220,000 during the Five-Year Plan. Sulfur requirements will be satisfied from domestic springs. The Budapest Gasworks makes -possible the production of 4,000 tone of sulfuric acid per year. During the Five-Year Plan, 25,000 toms of anhydrous soda will be produced from the Bukkszek water and will fulfill the greater part of Huagary'e needs. Iodine and bromine will be mamifautured from spring water, and the der nd for magnesium salt will also be satisfied. At present, 3,000 tons of barite are imported per year. With the separa- +ion of the barite from iron ore, at the Rudabanya mine, this requirement can beset domestically, thereby paving 100,000 dollars ansueily in foreign exchange. The mining of 100,000 tone of :.alc at Felsoceatrr will result in a 300,000- dollar savings, since its importation x:ll be eliminated. Increased utilization of domestic dyes must be encouraged. Keezthelykornyek, Mad, and Egervidek are cepable of sunplying th^ chemical industry with enough raw materials for dye production. Monthly production of carbonic acid. free of methane, at the Mihalyi factory is 150,000 kilograms, Since the liberation, the Rico Surgical-Dressing Plant has doubled the number of ito emnloyeec. The value of production increased by more than 200 percent since the beginning of the three-year plan.
