Estonian industry fulfilled the second-quarter gross-production plan 110 percent. Daring the second quarter of 1949, 34 percent more goods were produced than during the corresponding period of 1948. By 1 -iuly, local industry had com- ,:leted 97.11 percent of the volume of production provided under the Five- Year Plan. Light, uyezd, and city industry completed the Five-Year Plan in respect to volume of production on 2 J?-ly. Of the 74 enterprises under the Ministry of Local Industry, 26 have already completed the Five-Year Plan in reenact to volume of production, including : the Tartu "Kammivabri.k," "K+mstearvetekhased," "Khelios," "Pykh'yela," "TAP," "Vega," Pyarnu Linen Factory, and Tartu and Khar'ya Industrial Combines. The average monthly output of local industry significantly exceeds the prewar l.vel; the rate of production of the metal industry is 40 per- cent, greater and that of light industry, 24 percent. Estonian shoe factories produced 486,000 pairs of shoes in 1946, but will produce 878,000 pairs during 1949. In the came manner, output of linen cloth will increase from 1.2 million meters to 2.8 million meters and output of woolen goods from 600,000 meters to 1.1 million meters. Prod+'otion of rubber shoes will have increased by 400 percent. Local industry acquired 22 pillion rubles of above-plan accumulations in 1948, but accumulations during the first Ii months of 1049 have already amounted to 22 million rubles. -- N.
