Sandjak, is well adNar,ced. By Moron, deep drilling had been finished in
the coal. basin. Although at present Coal is mined there only for local needs,
the reserves of lignite are estimated at hundrode of millions of tons.
Successful torte have been made i-i producing semicoke from lignite. and a

A road 32 kilometers long, mining and industrial buildings, and a
flotation plant at Gradac bare been built in this district. At the
flotation plant, ore will be lowered to the ropeway, the opuree of which
has already been laid out.
Meanwhile, the peasants of the district have been loarninp mining
technique from the experienced miners who have arrived from large mines to
teach them.

This year many more operations at the Sakanj mine will be mechanized.
Preparations are being made for opening a broad face about 70 meters wide
in the Orasa pit. Work at this face will be mechanized. The new method
of cutting coal, which saves manpower and permits greater mechanization,
will be used at several faces. Transport within the mine also will be
mechanized.

A brigade of hO young miners from the "Cer" manganese mine in Macedonia
has arrived at the iron mine at Vares, in Bosnia. They will work for 2
month: in order to become acquainted with the techniques in use there for
the benefit of their own mine.
