THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
The afforestatio project of North Korea has made rapid progrere. IUp to th., the
data., s total of 980,000 persons have helped to plant saplings fa this year's
afforestation project. which began in March. An area of 196,080 acres was planted with
170,060,000 trees, attaining 107 percent of the scheduled acreage coverage and 106
percent of the planting quota. The Ministry of Forestry is planning to double 1950'0
project, and ban already started the growing of saplings and land survey.

According to s TABS report of 5 July from Pyong'ag, a total of 800 enterprises
in Worth Korea took part in the production competition initiated by the Desinskiy
MetalI rglcal Plant in honor of the third anniversary q the enactment of the labor
law. As a result, labor productivity was increased and output of industrial production
rose 30 percent in June, as coupared -rith May, and 15 percent in coal and ore mines.
Also as a result of the competition, the majorit3 of large industrial enterprises
completed the 6-south plan ahead of schedule.
