A lags hydroelectric power plant is being built at Vuzenlaa of the Dravu.
A section of the river 160 meters long add 65 meters wide has been walled off by
means of a,concrete dam 12 meters high. The ground will have been prepared for
the construction of concrete foundations by September 1949?

When ready, it rill produce the sane amount of power as the Mariboreki Otok
hydroelectric power plant, which VAe put into operation last year.
A s stea of hyd_?oelectr1o avower plants will b7 built on the Drava from )aribor
to Dravograd., and the Vuzenica power plant, which will have a receraoir of 19 million
cubic meters of rater, will regulate the water supply to ail plants downstream and
prevent significant changes in the water level. All the plants on the Drava will
receive water and produce power steadily, regardless of fluctuations in the water
level originating in Austria.

Preliminary work on enlarging the existing equipment and installing new egniF-
ment at the Subotioa thermoelectric power nlalrt is now taking place. At present,
the plant uaanot supply its industrial consumers with sufficient power without the
help of the 'bnta power plant.
A new etean boiler, twice as large as the old one, will be installed. To
supply water to the old and new boilers, a large new reservoir has been built. An
experimental installation w'itb.moving chain grates has been finished. All controls
are now concentrated on one panel. New air pipes have been added in order to
increase the burning efficiency of the ftrrnace. As a result, a cheaper quality of
coal can be used.
