A large grout of gtudents have completed theoretical flight training there, and will start making practice flights by the pad of July. Foth rural and urban youth are studying aviatio: in Bikirekiy Rayon where two groups are studying airplanes and engines. In Birobidzhan, students at the obstetrical assistants school have completed parachute training and three other groups are studying airplanes, aircraft engines, and other phases of aviation.science. The majority of youths in Lex.inskiy Rayon, Komeomol'sk, are DOSAV members and the rayon has three regular aviation study groups. Thirty-five members in the ray n have already completed parachute training. Aviation study groups have also beet organized on Kamchatka. The Kray's rayon and city DOSAV committees and the air club have trained more than 200 lectorero who give reports to workers in enter- prises, institutions, and kolkhozes throughout the kray. In honor of Air Force Lay, the kray DOSAV organization sent out a special plane to various points in the laay in order to give reports on DOSAV and the air fleet, and to recruit new members. Veterans of World War II and Salomazin, head of the Khabarovsk Air Club, held mee,.1ngs with students in honor of the day, and the club has prepared a special program to be held at the airfield, including ground and air exhibits. Special airplane rides will be organized for leading DOSAV members. -- A. Short-wave radio activities :rave also been greatly expanded. Hundreds of thou- sands of DOSARM mmbers are participating In mass competitions. The Tashkent City radio club, for example, has become a center of activi- ties for DOSARM members in that city. More than 100 short-wave operators are continuously on the air. The recent all-Union competition among DOSARM radio operators is evidence of the improvement in short-wave radio instruction in DOSARM groups. Hundrede of thousands of radio specialists are trained in radio clubs and study groups without interruption from work. The school prepares MVD troops officers. Citizens of the USSR between 18 and 20 years of age having a completed secondary education will be accepted. Tana term of study is 3 years. Applicants must pre- sent the following documents: autobiography, copy of birth certificate, certificate of education, certificate of the ar-dical commission on phys- ical fitness for military service and study in the military institution, char- act&r references, and photographs. Entrance examinations will be given 15 - 30 September 1949 in Russian language, literature, mathematics (written and oral), contemporary politics, and geography (oral). The state will pay travelling exponses.
