MediR:al personnel from all over the USSR have contributed their efforts
t'warde a successful celebration of Miners' Day, Pe:ecunel of the medical aid
station at the "Oktyabr'ekaya Revolyutsiya" mine are capable of giving miners
all types of services, including paraffinotherapy, massages, and tuberculosis
prophylax5e. Several underground first-aid posts have beer, organized at the
"Soohegarka" mine, largest mine i:; the Go; lovka region. Reco:tly constrectian
was cona,,leted on facilities for the manufacture of aereated water, which is now
being euppli.ed to all miners at Kochegerka.
The various Institutes of Plastic Surgery an: Orthopedics have achieved
new standards for the care of srdners. RSceutlyy the Central Institute of
1 eunatology and Orthopsdice dispatched special teams to Karaganda and Tula
which briefed the doctors stationed at various mine medical ail stations in the
techniques of modern therapy and surgery. The Novosibirsk Institute for Plastic
Surgery and Orthopedics has organized a special &Toup which makes regular tripe'
to medical aid stations in and around the Kuznetsk coal fields.
Workers at medical aid stations organized at Kemerovo mines completed pre-
paring their installations for winter operations as their contribution to the
celebration of Miners' Day,
A 110-bed hospital is being completed at mine No 10, A rest home capable
of serving 30 patients will, be conetx .cte3 in the near fut.o e at Cher to-1"
mine, Belovugol' Trust.
The IAabocatocy of Eygiene and Safety of Mine.,, West Siberia: Affiliate
of the Academy of Sciences USSR, has designed a special chamber where minera
may obtain the benefits of artificial sunlight. Tests have shown that miners
who sake use of this chamber have been ill less than these who do not avail
themselves of the service. The same laboratory has de'reloped a special device
for washing miners' boots and a special hat, manufactured from 7 alcanized paper,
which is both light and waterproof and affords excellent protection for the
miners' heads,
