For the past year dootcre have hailed with increasing fervor the attribut3s
of the sleep therapy being used at VolnovaEha Rayon Hospital. This treatment; whose
inundation lies in Pavlov's theories of the benign effects of retardation caused by
sleep, haz been used-eeticesefully in treating patients with ulcers, acute forms of
:ed:sz1 is, hypertonia, and. trophic ulcere. This sloop treatment prover more suc-
cesp.ful than amt other known therapeutic method.
Recently the Tolnovakba Scientific Medical Society heard a report oa the value
of this sleep therapy. Reuropat1Dolog./.ets, therapiots, surgeons, and gynecologists
were high In their praise of tL~s method. Doctors assigned to rayon hospitals came
to the conclusion that this method should be promoted as a special service to be
offored by all hospitals. They urge a wide ed"Aoatiom l program which will permit

Vitamin-Fortified Blood
It has been noticed that in many cases of trauma there is an immediate decrease
in the Vitamin C content of the blood. Therefore, in many cases, patients who re-
quire blood. transfusions are riven b1c;d which is forts*ied with Vitamin C.
D. )I.-OrosAev and V. 0. Vrasnopol'skeya, chiefs of the Laboratory of Blood Transfusion,
Order of Lenin Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, developed a new method
for preparing vitamin-fortified blood which can be stored for long periods without
losing its potency. This method has been reviewed and approved by the Scientific
Medical Council, Ministry of Public Health USSR, and is being used by several USSR
Institutions.
