Pei-p'ing, 6 October (NCIVA) -- The activities of the Soviet delegaticn cf
the cultural, arts, and science workers, since their arrival in Pei-p'ing were
as follows:
1 October -- Participated in the birthday celebration _)f the Feople's
Government, People's Republic of China.
2 October -- Participated in the organizing conference of the China
Branch, World Peace Conference.
5 October -- Participated in tie orga4Llzing conference cf the Sino-
Soviet Friendship Association Headquarters in Pei-ping.
6 October -- Teomitov, director of the International Publishing Company,
USSR, explained the organization and operation of the Soviet publishing and
printing industry to the members of the Chinese Publishing Committee Includ-
ing Hu Y1!-chih, Huang Lo-feng, We-ig Tzu-yfh, end Hue ling-shen.
Lo T'ien-tzu, Dean of the Agricultural Department, North Chine University,
conferred with Soviet Aeri ulturel Specialist Stoletov.
In the afternoon, Sovie, ;Sdr,? ,;tor Dopolovina defined the Soviet educational
system and functions to more than 1,000 educational workers in Pei-ping.

SOVIET CANtRAMISN ARRIVE IN PEI-P'ING -- Ta Kung Pao. 3 Oct 49
Pei-ping, 30 September (5CNA) -- Eleven Soviet cameramen, headed by
S. A, Gerasimov, arrived in Pei-p'ing on 30 September 1949. These Sovie~
cameramen are a part of the 43-member Soviet delegation who are to partic-
ipate in various functions in Pei-ping.
The cameramen were welcomed by Lu Ting-i, Chairman of the Central Prop-
aganda Committee, CCP; and representatives from the Central Committee of the
CCP, the New Democratic Youth League of Chin:.. the Sino.- wiet Friendship Aa-
eociation, the Central Mo-7ing Picture Control Board, Pei-p'ing movie houses,
the A31-China Students Union, the Soviet Intercultural Association, and the
Soviet Far East Film Exporting Company.
Geraaimov, in response to Lu's welcoming speech, said that their aim is
to make films of the reconctruction work now being carriai. out in the liberated
areas and, at the same time, exhibit various Soviet cult ral and aoientific
works so that Sino-Soviet relationship becomes more clc ly linked.

were heard by more than 1;000 students and teachers from Pei-p'ing University,
Hua-pei University, National Academy, Transportation College of the Pei-p'ing
Railway Adminietration School, Fu-Jen University, Franco-Chinese University,
and middle schools in Pei-p ing, Tang Yung-ciao, chairman of the Administrative
Committee of the Psi-p'ing University delivered the welcome speech:

Pei-ping, 5 October -- on 6 October 1949, at the official. organizing
conference for the headquarters of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association,
the Soviet delegation presented famous Soviet films, records, and textbooks
to the association.
The gifts, presented by E. S. Markov. included 15 Soviet films, text-
books from middle and higher schools in the Soviet Union, literary collec-
tions, and about 1,000 musical records.
The titles of films presented include: "The Battle of Stalingrad," "The
Young Guardsmen" (written by A. A. Fadayev and directed by S. A. Geraeimo-r,
both In the Soviet delegation), "The Meeting on the Elbe," "Academician," "Pav-
lov," "Michurin," "Konetantin Zaelanuv," "Song of Siberia," "Lenin," "The May-
Day Parade of 1949," and "Pushkin."

recently donated 5,750,000 Soviet books printed in the Chinese language to
various Chineee li,rariea.

Dopolovina explained the organization and functions of the Soviet publish-
ing and printing industry. As opposed to those in the capitalistic nations,
the Soviet publishing and printing industry is a government-owned nonprofit
organization. Its main purpose is to serve the people. Because of its re-
sponsible nature, any person who wants to purcue this profession should be
well-educPted and must be a confirmed Communist Party-liner, she added.
Her speech was heard by the officals of the Publishing Committee, Central
Propaganda Department, CCP; delegates who attended the Publishing Agencies Con-
ference of the New China Publishing Company; and the library staffs of the Pei-
p'ing, Ching-hua, Yen-ching, and. Pei-p'ing Teachers' uoiveraities.
