The Yerevan Machine-Building Plant of the Ministry of Local Industry
(formerly the Agricultural Equipment Plant), which hoe been in existence only
3 years, has became one of the largest industrial enterprises in the republic.
It now produces electrical he.ehinery, including generators. By the sad of 1949,
it will be ready to turn out Diesel motors. It bas completed the Five-Year Plan
in 3j years.
Much remains to be done, however. The technical leader& hare failed to give
proper eon_ideration to suggestions for rationalization offered by the plant?e
workers. They have also neglected to give serious attenticL to economical
utilization of nonferrous metals, Increase of labor prodnetivity, installation
of floor circuit outlets, mechanization of lacquering generator stator plates,
and many other proposals.

The "Spoke" Electric Machine-Building Plant, Rilya, has simplified the
manufacture of electric sockets. This saved 580 kilograms in press scrape,
from which 24,000 additional sockets were made, saving 15,000 rubles.

The Plant imeni Vladimir I1'ich bas pledged to carry out this year's
norm for the output of electric motors by 7 Noveeaber, thereby completing the
Five-Tear Plan in 4 years.
At present, the plant Is engaged in the production of three types of high-
voltage electric motors.
The regularity with which the plant is operating is Indicative of its
successes. All the shops release their products In accordance with a strict
10-day schedule. The plant has also made it a rule that not lose than 4 per-
cent of the monthly plan be completed daily.

Within the last 2 months, more than 200 valuable suggestions for rationali-
zation have been implemented, which has shortened the production cycle in sass,
unite.
The machine builders have pledged to increase the productivity of every
metal-cutting tool by 25 percent, and this pledge is being carried out.

speeded up through the use of a compound die, which replaces three separate
dies formerly used in the process. As a result, the production of platen has
risen from 900 to 1,700 per shift.
The plant, had also become a picleer in the chill casting of rotors, re-'
ducing the amount of rejects seven and eightfold.
Ingenuity in devising speed-up methods is especially'notable in the
motor-building shop, where the Five-Year Plan was completed in February. Since
then. the output of electric motors in this shop has increased another 28-30
percent.
OIL, COAL INBUSTRY TO PAT NEW MOTORS Vecher?yaya Moskva, No 234, 1 Oct 49
The Plant imeni Vladimir Il ioh has put out the first size-13, 24O-kilo-
watt electric motor and has pledged the completion of 20 more by 7 November.
Coal mines and oil fields will use the motors to run ocapressors, pumps, and
various other equigaumt.
In one year the plant has produced 800 motors over plan, ocmprieing 20
types.

The special bulb shop of the Electric Bulb Plant has produced 550,000
bulbs above the figure set for September.
It has released 1,500,000 rubles to the state, and, since the start of
1948,: has released 9 million rubles in working capital.

Plan for volume of production on 28 September. Gross output was 2.7 times
greater than in 1946. Mass production of compound cables and wires for tele-
phones, mines, and power transmission is under way.
In the first half year 2,430,000 rubles in working capital were re-
leased as against the planned amount for the entire year of one million rubles.

The lover crosspieces, weighing 70 tone, were machined on a vertical
lathe In 6 days; under old methods this took 10-12 days.
