The winter schedule for train traffic will go into effect oa the fJ88R rail-
road network on the night of 29 November. During the winter months many rail-
road systems will keep the operating indexes used during the summer months, a
practice initiated in 1948, and on some systems the winter operating norms
viii be higher than those established by the summer schedule.
The weight of ell south-bound trains on the Turkestan-Siberian Railroad
System has been increased by 900 tone. Traffic. will be increased by several
pairs of trains per day on the Balashov route between the Donets Basin and
the Volga area. The winter schedule calla for an Sncrease on the network as
s whole of average speed including stops, aversge speed excluding stops, and
the level of freight handling, in comparison not only xith the corresponding
period of last year but also with the summer schedule.
To Insure the effective implementation of the winter program, the state
has given the railroad systems large amounts of additional equipment, in-
cluding rails, crushed atone ballast, and sex locomotives. Advanced methods
for handling trains and Por station operations x111 be used.
MOSCOW RR CERTER TO EXPAND ELECTRIC RUAS -- Moskovskiy Bolshevik, fto 308,

Electric train traffic will be opened on the Moscow-Vnukovo section of
the Moscow-Kiev Railroad System and on the Moscow-Kryukovo section of the
October Railroad System. These will be the first electrified sections of
these railroad systems.
On the Western Railroad System it is planned to complete the construc-
tion of the Goliteyno-Zvenigorod section.

It is planned to increase the speed of electric trains, In addition, nine-
car trains xill replace the six-car trains used formerly.
A large amount of work is planned for the f1u'ther automatization of
traction substations and for the introduction of control by telecommunications.

Workers of transport enterprises of Latvian SSR have pledged in a letter
to Stalin to complete the 1950 year plan for the construction of the Riga-
Kemeri electrified railroad line sad to put electric trains into operation on
the Riga coast by 5 August 1950.

The Tashkent Railroad System completed the 1949 carloadiag plan 100.2
percent on 27 December, The carloading plan for most oP the mayor types oY
freight vas exceeded, with the plan for petroleum produ~cs being completed 104.4
percent, ferrous metals 145.7 percent, Poreat troducta 123.4 percent, rev cot-
ton, 120.8 percent, and cotton seeds 108.6 percent. The year plan for unloading
was completed 102.9 percent.

The Kirov Railroad System completed the 1$49 plan for loading 108.1 per-
cent sad the plan for unloading 107.2 percent.

A new railroad station, called Elektrozavodekaya, has been built in
Stalinekiy Rayon oP Moscow City for the Mnacow-ayaz~, Rail ~^
station is located not far from the vestibule of the "Slektrozavodekaya" sub-
way station. The new station has s 220-meter stone platform with metal lamp-
poats.
The new station will permit workers living outside the city and working
