The ataber of atuderts in primary, 7-rear, anal secondary schools in 1949
(at the beginning of the 1948 - 19,0 school year; exceeded the number of stu-
dents is 1948 by 2.5 percent. The nw~er of students in higher educational
iaetitntions increased by 3.2 percent is 1949, sad the mober of students in
correspondence copses of higher educational institutions increased 14.3 per-
cent.
The 1949 plan for placement of graduates iron ":ads, railroad, and gyp
schools Vas completed 99.5 percent.
During 11 months of 1949, the mmber of beds in hospital, maternity hoe-
pit3L^, gad e*~er *!~Qice1 Saetitutions increased 2.7 percent over 19$8.
The republic campleted 94 percent of the 1949 Din for retail coa?odity
turnover, laclading 95 percent of the retail-trade plan and 9J percent of'the
plan for public eating enterprises.
