SvIERKOCIN BRICKYARD TO BE REBUILT -- Ziemin Pomoraka, No 347, 18 Dec 49
The mechanized brickyard in Svierkocln, Grudziadz Poviat, hne bees shut
doxn for 5 years, having Buffered 30 percent war damage. Sixty vorkere receiv-
ing nn average daily pay of 800 zlotys are aov employed in rebuilding the brick-
yard. ilith the beainnl~ of actual p;-eduction in the spring of 1950, employment
will increase. By 1951, tha brickyar: will employ 200 vorkere, including many
vomea.
The Svierkocin brickyard, part of the Pomorze Brickyards, has two large
kilns, only one of which will be activated nt present. With the activation
of the second kiln, in the fall of 1950, the brickyard will produce 12 million
hollow tiles annually.
Drilling will be started hie year to locate new deposits of better quality
clay. The old clay pit had been fully exploited. Moreover, it is flooded with
voter which will have to be pumped out.
The Svierkocin plant is the second largest brickyard Sa Grudzindz. '_te
high-grade clay is particularly adapted for the production of thin-walled build-
ing material.

On the occasion of Stalin's 70th birthday, vorkere of the Koecluezko and
Pobrek foundries completed two new plant installations.
LARGE TANAERY IN GNIEZNG -- Slovo Katolickle, No 45, 5 Nov 49
The tannery aov under construction is Gniezno will employ approximately
600 vorkere sad will be one of the largest tanneries in Poland. The tannery
u1t1 help reduce the nation's leather imports.
