The Statistics Administration Tadzhik SSR reports that Tadzhik industry
fulfilled the 1949 gross-production plan 101.8 percent, and increased gross
production 13 percent over 1948. Individual ministries, departments, and enter-
prises fulfilled the 1949 grcss-production plan as follows:

The following enterprises of the Ministry of Light Industry fulfilled the
1949 plan: Leninabad, Proletarsk, Kanibadam, Regar, Stalinabad, Kurgan-Tyube,
Kirovabad, Parkhar, and Kulyab cotton-ginning plants; Leninabad Silk Combine;
"Krasnyy Tkach" Factory; Stalinabad Silk Winding and Weaving Factory; and Len-
inabad and Stalinabad shoe factories. The following enterprises failed to pro-
duce the required assortment of goods: Shaartuz Cotton-Ginning Plant, Stalin-
shad Leather Plant, and Kanibadam Mechanized Foundry. The following enterprises
did not fulfill the 1949 production plan:- Uyalinskiy Cotton-Ginning Plant,
Stalinabad and Leninabad sewing factories, Stalinabad Knitwear Factory, and Kani-
badam Spinning Factory.
The following enterprises of the Ministry of Food Industry fulfilled the
1949 plan: Isfara Cannery, Kirovabad, Parkhar, and Regar oil plants, Stalinabad
and Kurgan-Tyube grain mills, and Leninabad Winery. The following enterprises
failed to produce the planned assortment of goods: Leninabad and Kanibadam
canned food combines, Chkalov and Chepturinskiy canneries, Kulyab, Shaartuz and
Leninabad oil plants, and Ura-Tyube and Stalinabad wineries. The following en-
terprises did not fulfill the 1949 plan: Ura-Tyube Cannery, Kurgan-Tyube Oil
Plant, Stalinabad Soap Plant, Pendzhikent and Ganchinskiy wineries, Isfara Al-
cohol Plant, Leninabad Glass Jar Plant, Stalinabad Brewery, Stalinabad Mechan-
ized Bakery, Mechanized Bakery No 1, bakeries in Ura-Tyube, Kulyab, and Lenin-
abed, and the Kulyab Grain Mill.
The following enterprises of the Ministry of Meat and Dairy Industry ful-
filled the 1949 plan: Stalinabad Meat-Canning Combine and Khorog Oblast Meat
and Dairy Trust'. The following did not produce the planned assortment of goods:
Stalinabad, Leninabad, and Kulyab oblast meat and dairy trusts and the Stalin-
abed City Dairy. The Garm Oblast Meat and Dairy Trust failed to fulfill the
1949 plan.
The following enterprises of the Main Administration of Construction Ma-
terials industry fulfilled the 1949 plan: Stalinabad and Proletarsk brick
plants, Stalinabad and Isfara construction materials plants, and the Administra-
tion of Stalinabad Quarries. The Stalinabad Roofing Tile Plant and the Vakhsh
Construction Materials Combine failed to meet the plan.
The Isfara Coal Mine and the scale repair shops of the Ministry of Local
Industry fulfilled the 1949 plan. The woodworking plant and the sewing and
knitting factory failed to produce the planned assortment of goods. The Ziddin-
skaya Coal Mine, the ".Metalloshirpotreb" (Metal Consumers' Goods) Plant, the
Ordzhonikidzeabad Tile Plant, and the Gissar Brick Plant did not fulfill the
1949 plan.

Individual ministries and enterprises, while exceeding the gross-production
plan, failed to meet the plan for certain important products. The Ministry of
Light industry did not fulfill the plan for hosiery, knic underwear, cotton yarn,
hard leather goods, chrome leather goods, cast iron, coats, and su+.ts. The Min-
istry of Meat and Dairy Industry did not fulfill the plan for ice cream, sour
milk products, and brynza (a kind of cheese). The Ministry of Local Industry
did not fulfill the plan for production of construction parts, parts for carts,
aluminum and cast iron, knit outer garments and underwear, roofing tiles, and
fired bricks.
The Administration of Industrial Cooperatives produced only five types of
products instead of 20 as planned. The Tadzhik Union of Invalids' Cooperatives
produced three types of'products instead of 11 provided in the plan.

? The Administration of Narrow-Gauge Railroads fulfilled the 1949 plan for
freight hauling 126 percent. The volume of freight hauling in 1949 increased
30 percent over 1948. Freight turnover for various types of freight was as fol-
