CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN IN 3D QUARTER 1950 -- Zeri i Popullit, No 17, 20 Jan 50
Tirana, 19 January -- During the first quarter of 1950, the State Construction
Enterprise in Tirana is making the necessary preparations for the constuction of a
petroleum refinery and a lumber mill, both of which are called for by the Two-Year
Plan.
The sites for the factory have been chosen, and engineers are preparing the
plans. Construction is scheduled to begin during the third quarter of 1950.
Eight hectares of land have been allocated thus far for growing vegetables
and raising 30 hogs on the future auxiliary farm of the new factories.
FACTORY PRODUCES 20,000 MATCHES DAILY -- Zeri i Popullit, No 318, 3 Jan 50
Tirana -- On 1 January, production in the match factory in Tirana was in-
augurated formally. This is the first match factory in Albania. It is equipped
with various machines adapted by an Albanian technician. The chemical equipment
was imported from the USSR.
At present the factory is producing 20,000 matches per day. Later, when
the labor force is larger, production will be increased so that the factory will
provide all the matches needed in Albania.
