THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATICN SUIYUAH, CHAHAR CHECK DISEASE -- Hong Kong Wen-hui Pao, 27 Feb 50 Pei-ping, 27 February (Hsin-hua) -- The rinderpest epidemics in Suiyuan and Chahar provinces have been checked or eliminated according to a responsible Communist authority. In late November 1949, a rinderpest epidemic broke out in Chi-ning, Feng- chen, and four other hsiens, and in Cheng-hung, Cheng-huang, and Cheng-lan ban- ners of Suiyuan Province. The epidemic affected some 900 head of cat$ae. The provincial government immediately sent veterinarians to the affected areas to combat the disease. In a little more than a month, they cured 113 affected animals and gave preventive inoculations to 'i,206. The rinderpest epidemic in Suiyuan has been checked. In mid-January 1950, a similar epidemic started in several localities of Yen-pei area of Chahar Province. During 13.- 31 January, veterinary personnel cured 14,000 affected cattle and gave preventive inoculations to 300,000 agri- cultural animals, thereby wiping out the rinderpest epidemic in that area. SHANTUNG INOCULATES ANIMALS -- Hong Kong Wen-hui Pao, 28 Feb 50 Pei-p'ing, 27 February (Hsin-hua) -- During the spring and autumn of 1950, the Shantung Province People's government is planning to inoculate 1,100,000 animals to prevent anthrax. To complete this job, a plant producing animal disease serum will be established to increase the production of anthrax' vaccines.
