THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION REVIEWS 4 YEARS' ACTIVITIES OF CITIZENS' MILITIA The ORMO (Voluntary Reserve Citizens' Militia) was organized on the author- ity of the Council of Ministers' resolution of 21 February 1946. Branches were organized in all cities and powiats of Slask Wo.jewodztwo. A resume of 4 years' activities is given below. The 02.MO, in cooperation with the MO (Citizens' Militia), the UB (State Security), KBW (Internal Security Corps), and the WOP (Army of Regenerated Po- land), helped to eliminate the reactionary underground groups, robbers, and smugglers in the border powiats. The members also participated in work compe- tition and aided the mines and factories to achieve production plans on sche- dule. They helped with the harvest, the radiofication of villages, and repaired farm machines and equipment. Three model producers' cooperatives were organized by the ORMO in Prudnicki Powiat. The ORMO organized 101 recreation rooms, 98 theatre groups, 23 choral groups, 15 musical groups, and 87 libraries of 200 volumes each. It is combating illiter- acy by organizing lectures and meetings in all localities of the wojewodztwo. It organized 3,165 various activities in the social halls, 146 theatrical perform-. ances, and 54 choral and 23 musical recitals and concerts. The ORMO organized and is operating seven club houses and expects to open a new one in Lazy. The most active of these are in Zawiercie, Zabrze, Kozle, and Zabkowice. ORMO members hold positions at the State Farms and in Producers' Coopera- tives. They are also very enthusiastic sportsmen and have organized archery, boxing, and wrestling matches. Last year, 354 ORMO members received honorary decorations. On its fourth anniversary 543 more will be decorated, and 108 have been chosen for special mention. Included among those who have worked untiringly are: Cyprian Szyd- lowski, commander of ORMO in Dabrowa Gornicza; Jan Fyrman in Bedzin, Aleksander Palme in Zawiercie, and Rudzinski in Gliwice. The ORMO will continue its activities in ideological and military train- ing, in systematic training of instructors, in fire fighting, and in organiz- ing recreation rooms and libraries, with emphasis on the political and cul- tural life of the area.
