THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION ACTIVITY IN PORT OF WISMAR REFLECTS GROWTH OF TRADE The increase in transshipments handled by the port of Wismar reflects the growth of foreign trade in the German Democratic Republic. In January and February, shipments of rubber were received from Great Britain, cocoa from Holland, skins from Argentina, grain from the USSR, and superphosphe.tes from the Benelux countries. Outgoing shipments consisted of potash and rock salt. During the first half of March, Soviet vessels unloaded 5,600 tons of grain and 500 tons of peroxide for the manufacture of welding electrodes, while in January and February 28 ships from Holland and Belgium unloaded 32,000 tons of superphosphates and picked up an identical quantity of potash. Moreover, 88,000 tons of potash were shipped to the US, Norway, and Finland. The electrical and engineering plant of the Association of People-Owned Enterprises in Chemnitz has received an order for 34,000 dollars' worth of electrical switchboards for shipment to Czechoslovakia. The Ankerglas glass plant in Bernsdorf, Hoverswerda District, Sachsen, has received export orders amounting to 760,000 Deutsche marks, for shipments to England, Italy, France, Holland, and Switzerland.
