In 1949, five times more refined lead and three times more sulfuric acid was produced per consumer than in 1939. Celje, 19 March Today, Franc Leskosek, Minister of Heavy Industry in the federal government, announced that Yugoslavia produced 12,100,000 tons of coal in 1949, as compared to 6 million in 1939. In 1949, Yugoslavia produced 62,600 tons of petroleum. Prewar investments in construction amounted to 13 billion dinars and 1949 investments amounted to 40,500,000,000 dinars. The 1950 plan calls for 45,700,000,000 dinars for construction investments. Industrial production in 1947 was 67 percent greater than in 1939; in 1948 it was 157 percent greater, and in 1949, 204 percent greater than in 1939. Yugoslavia produced 191,159 carloads of wheat in 1946 and 269,800 carloads in 1949; 175,580 carloads of corn in 1946 and 499,200 carloads in 1949; and 17,250 carloads of rice in 1946 and 36,260 carloads in 1949. The production of wheat in Slovenia rose from 5,268 carloads in 1946 to 6,827 carloads in 19497, and the production of corn rose from 4,892 carloads in 191+6 to 6,265 carloads in 1949. About 900,000 people from rural areas moved to cities or factories and mines from the time of the Liberation to the present.
