RAILROAD CAR PRODUCTION ADVANCES -- Ljudska Pravica, No 95, 20 Apr 50 The railroad car factory in Rankovicevo produced about 1,000 open freight cars in 1949. This year the number of freight cars is to increase even more. In 1949 the factory began production of ten series of railroad cars with a capacity of more than 20 tons. Thus far, 50 cars with a capacity of 45 tons were constructed by the factory. The advantage of domestic cars is that they open on the sides. This year, the factory also began production of streetcar freight trailers for Belgrade and industrial cars for the Ironworks in Zenica. The Dragoslav Djordjevic-Gosa Railroad Car Factory in Smederevska Palanka is scheduled to produce 300 passenger cars per year. A large shop in the factory is being rebuilt. The passenger cars, which will be made of light and hard metal alloys, will be produced serially by the end of 1950. For the past 2 years, the factory produced mail cars of domestic material, according to the design of Engineer J. Markovic. NEW EXPANDED TRAIN SCHEDULE TO GO INTO EFFECT -- Tanjug, No 171, 18-Mar 50 Belgrade, 17 March -- The Ministry of Yugoslav Railroads has issued a new timetable which will expand the volume of passenger traffic by 20 per cent. It will go into effect in the middle of May. The number of express trains on the Belgrade-Zagreb-Ljubljana-Rijeka line will be increased, and a direct connection between Belgrade and Split will be established. New rail-motor cars will begin service on the Belgrade-Cacak-Sarajevo line, in Eastern Serbia, and on the Sarajevo-Adriatic Sea Line. This year, for the first time, an express will travel between Belgrade and the Kosmet. Moreover, all lines will provide direct railroad service to the most remote regions, so that passengers will not have to change cars at junctions. Slovenski Porocevalec, No 95, 20 Apr 50 A 670-meter-Long railroad bridge is being constructed over the Sava Riv-r near 0struznica., east of Belgrade. This will be the only bridge in Yugoslavia which vi11 be able to support two loaded freight trains going in opposite di- rections. The bridge will be built on 15 piers, and its center will consist of four iron parts with a total weight of 2,000 tons. Thus far, five concrete piers have been completed. Each of the piers is as high as a 10-story building, and rises 25 meters above the water. ISTRIAN RR NEA1?S COMPLETION -- Ljwiska Pravica, No 104, 30 Apr 50 The most important part of the 54-kilometer Lupoglav-Stalije railroad, i.e., the 20?kilometer track between Pican and Stalije, will be completed within 2 or 3 months, provided necessary construction material is available. The railroad is of great important for transportation of coal to the separator in Stalije. Thus far, four tunnels have been dug on the Lupoglav-Stalije line, one of which is 720 meters long. TUZLA RR UNDER CONSTRUCTION -- S1.ovenski Porocevalec, No 93, 18 Apr 50 In addition to the Doboj-Tuzla railroad line, another railroad is being constructed in Tuzla Oblast.
