As of 30 April, there had been the following increase in agricultural wo:.:..in com- parison with the same period of 1949: plowing for 1950 spring crops 17 per- cent, planting oY spring crops 38 percent, including 32 perccnt for grain crops and beans, 38 percent for cotton, 26 percent for potatoes, 205 percent for feed crops; plowing of fallow for winter crops 127 percent: and tractor work in con- nection with plowing 40 percent. MPS repaired more agricultural machines than in 1949, se foll.oNs: culti- vators 30 Percent, threshing machines 99 percent, and combines 104 percnet. The following rayons axe foremost in the planting of spring crops: pilshkinskiy, Shemakhinskiy, Safaraliyevskiy, Kazi-Magomedskiy, Kasum-Izmay- lovskiy, Agdamsk3y, Ali-Bayramlinskiy, and others: Khudatskiy, Lachinskiy, Siazanskiy, Divichinskiy, Shaumyanovskiy; and ?Dzhebrail'skiy rayons are lag- ging seriously in planting of~spring crops. Railroads of the. Republic completed 93 percent of the first-quarter plan for average daily car loading, including 82 percent for petroleum, 102 percent for construction materials and cement, 44 percent for salt, 122 percent for flour, 178 percent fur grain, and 89 percent for cotton. The first-quarter plan for retail commodity turnover was completed 97 per- cent, including 96.5 Percent for retail turnover in the trade system and 99 per- cent for turnover in public eatin6 enterprises.
