NEW SULFURIC ACID FACTORY IN SALZWEDEL -- Die Wirtschaft, No 19, 1 Oct 49
The new sulfuric acid factory for the Salz(redel Superphosphate and Sul-
furic Acid Plant has been completed on schedule. The 110 employees, working
in cooperation with she delivery firmr., have built a furnace roeml with three
24-ton capacity furnaces, an electrical dust precipitator with control pan?1,
two Glover towers, and two acid towers.

The Leuna Chemical Plant has supplied industrial enterprises in the Ger-
?~man Democratic Republic with one million cylinders of oxygen since 1945.
FERTILIZER PLANT UIQDER CONSTRUCTION -- Der Volksbetrieb, No 12, Dec 49
A new plant for the production of calcium fertilizer and construction
materials is being built on Fleesen Lake in Mecklenburg. The plant ie to
contain four lime kilns, each with one coarse grinder and one fine grinder,
and two'~storage silos 12 meters high. The fertilizer will be pumped directly
into barges moored at a new pier in the lake.

Tfie plant, which is now almost finished, is being built by a crew of 120
workers who are carrying out all the construction fobs and all operations in
the limestone pits nearby. Specialists were called in only to set up the ma-
chinery.
After its completion the plant le to produce 250,000 tons of calcium
fertilizer per year, an amount sufficient to cover the entire demand of Meck-
lenburg.
