CAttthe sae time, a public order of the Minister of Light Industry gave Office of Domestic Textile Raw Materials state enterprise the exclusive right to purchase wool. These orders will introduce basic reforms in the domestic wool market. The allocation of wool is necessary to eliminate speculation. In practice, domestic wool was not being sent to state factories but was being processed by private industrial establishments and thus reached the hands of specu- lators in the form of finished fabrics. Allocation will assure the state en- terprise larger supplies of domestic wool and reduce the need for imports. OG. The village cooperatives are obliged to deliver the wool to collection points of the Central Marketing office according to strictly defined condi- tions. To assure adequate remuneration to sheep raisers, the official prices paid for wool by the Central Marketing Office have been raised 100 percent. STATE FARMS TO TRAIN SHEEP RAISERS -- Polska Zbrojna, No 79, 20 Mar 50 The Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers has approved a resolu- tion to promote sheep raising and improve the quantity and quality cf wool production on individual and state farms. State farms will serve as bases for stock breeding and production of merino wool. The program will be implemented with imports of stock from the people's democracies and from other countries. Those localities where sheep raising is not sufficiently developed will receive sheep from state farms and stock-breeding farms. The government will grant subsidies and medium-term loans for this purpose. State farms will set up three instruction centers to train sheep raisers for large farmsteads. STATE FARM SHEEP FLOCKS TO REACH 400,000 -- Zycie Warszawy, No 92, 2 Apr 50 The state farms propose to increase the sheep population to 400,000 head within the Six-Year Plan, 75 percent of which will be the highly productive and valuable merino sheep. In addition to increasing the size of the flocks, it is also planned to improve the weight and quality of the fleece by choosing the proper breed and by efficient management. TO ORGANIZE SPRING FATTENING OF SHE,:? -- Zycie Warszawy, No 94, 4 Apr 50 The spring fattening of sheep will start in the Podhale region during the last week of April 1950. The fattening program embraces 25,000 head of sheep, 9,000 of which will be sent to Jaworki. Approximately 12,000 head of sheep will be brought by train to the pastures of Jaslo, Gorlice, and Sanok powiats. In addition to Nowy Targ Powriat, Zywiec, Limanowa, and Myslenice powiats will offer pastures for sheep fattening. About 18,000 head of sheep will '-e left to graze in the mountains.
