Following the publication of correspondence in PravarkovrTractor Assembly
concerning the supply difficulties encounters Karpovtsev,
Plant in the production of the KhTZ-7 tractor
chief of the Ukrmashprom Trust of the Ministry of Local Industry Ukrainian SSR,
informed Pravda Ukrainy that the criticism directed at hie tr.~st was Justified
and timely. He stated that Sosnitskiy, director of the Metayloposuda Plant,
had been reprimanded for hie failure to make prompt deliver_es of fuel tanks
to the Tractor Assembly Plant and that measures were being taken to supply the
latter with enough tanks to satisfy its needs during the next two quarter peri-
ods.
Many plants still owe large amounts of parts t~ the Tractor Assembly Plant.
The K:ev Motorcycle Plant delivered only one-fourth the number of steering sys-
tems ordered. The Kiev Bol'sheviY. Plant delivered only one-third the number of
front axles. The ICrasnyy Luch Machine-Building Plant is delaying delivery of
taming-gear housings. The Kharkov Plant imeni Molotov is behind in its supply
of crankshafts; this plant, together with the "Gushosdora" Machinery Plant, is
procrastinating in the production of bushings. ,

The Kharkov Tractor Plant has begun to assemble the new KhTZ-7 orchard and
garden tractors. The plant's assemblymen have called on the-komsomols of the
plants producing parts for the tractors to spur their production. In response,
the machine and assembly shop of the Kiev Krasnyy Proletariy Plant pledged com-
pletion of the year plan for the output oP parts within the next 2 months. The
workers of the Kiev Metalloposuda Plant have promised to fill the order for trac-
tor fuel tanks on time; to this effect, the komaomols have organized special con-
trol posts in the shops.

biany hundreds of workers at the Kharkov Tractor Plant have opened indi-
vidual achievessnts accounts. As a result, the plant has accumulated 1,200,000
rubles in above-plan savings.
At the Stalingrad 'Praetor Plant, V. P. Sivko, foreman in the model-making
shop, worked out and installed a triple mold Por the making of tracks, which
replaces the doubly mold used heretofore. Thereby, the production of trecks
has been increased 50 percent without expanding personnel or equipment.
DEVISES OIL-SAVING ATTACHMENT -- Kommunist Tadzhikistana, No 73, 12 Apr 50
At the Traktorodetal' Plant, much industrial oil used to be wasted be-
cause numerous drops escaped in the production process. Krasotin, a worker at
the plant, recently devised a mechanism which catches the drops. This device
has already been installed on a number of machine tools.
IMPROVES ATOMIZERS IN TRACTORS -- Zvezda, No 82, 23 Apr 50
Lontirov, director of the Cherkessk MTS imeni Kirov, has introduced im-
provements in the carburetor atomizers of the STZ and Universal tractors. All
the tractors at the MTS have been equipped with the improved atomizer. As a
result, within a few days the station saved hundreds of kilograms of oil pro-
ducts,
The Leningrad Plant imeni Yegorov is producing tractor parts for the spring
sowing.
SETS UP SCIENCE UNIT TO IMPROVE CASTING -- Trud, No 87, :12 Apr 50
A chapter of VNITOMASH (Scientific Association of Machine-Building Engi-
neers and Technicians) has been established in the steel-casting shop of the
Stalingrad Tractor Plant, It has a total membership of 50 persons, consisting
of engineers, technicians, and innovators.
The section, which is headed by Engineer N. Skvortsov, is carrying on im-
portant studies with a view toward improving casting operations. Comrades Chet-
verikov and Popov have designed and installed an overhead conveyer in the cast-
ing shop. The conveyer has had a great labor-saving effect.
150,000 TRACTORS BUILT IN 1949 -- Ogonek, No 6, Feb 49
During 1949, USSR agriculture received 150,000 tractors, 29,000 combines,
and more than 1,600,000 other pieces of agricultural machinery. The tractor
output was 55 percent higher than in 1948.
