Reserves of gypsum in the German Democratic Republic are sufficient for a long period of time. Preliminary work has been completed on a large plant that will use this new process to produce high-quality cement in addition to sulfuric acid. Construction of the plant will begin shortly. Large investments are provided in the 1950 Economic Plan for the production of sulfuric acid, and by the end of the year sulfuric acid production capacity is to reach 2.8 times the 191l.6 capacity.. After the new, large, modern plant has been completed, probably by the end of 1951, sulfuric acid production will be four times as great as in 1946. BUILDS NEW PHOSPHATE CALCINING PLANT -- Die Wirtechaft, No 23,.8 Jun 50 The workshop at the new phosphate calcining plant in Ruedersd.orf, construc- tion of which was started in February 1949, is 85 percent completed.
